Saturday we went to Borough Market. After walking through a tunnel, the market opened up into a vast space with tons of vendors and stands stretching for blocks. There were so many people that you could hardly walk. One place was serving exotic meats, including ostrich burgers, zebra, crocodile tail, and venison. Not my cup of tea. There were also stands with live lobsters and some with dead ducks hanging from signs. This market offered all different veggies, cheeses and meats from across the world. So I of course got turkey on a baguette plain (I can only adventure so much), but it was fantastic.
On Sunday, we went to Brick Lane and the Spitalfield Markets, which only happen on Sundays. We walked through an area that was "Little India" with each store claiming to have the best curry in the world, or the best curry chef from 2009, 2010, and 2011. It’s funny because there would be places next door to each other claiming to have the best curry on the street. Definitely not the best part of London so far, but we walked quickly through it and finally arrived at Brick Lane. Brick lane had markets serving food, as well as multiple bars, restaurants, street vendors, and stores. It ended up actually being really cool and what I picture Diagon Alley to be like in real life. After that, we walked through the Spitalfield Market which was like an enormous flea market with all different types of stands. Not sure if its something I would do again, but I would definitely recommend it.
