February 17th

Today at work was a pretty relaxing day, and a good way to end the week. Since it was a pay day for everyone, the people in my department all get together and have lunch together, called the monthly Smorgasbord. It was nice to talk to everyone outside of a work context. That being said, I still couldn't wait to leave the office and enjoy the weekend. After counting down to 5 o'clock, I jumped on the tube to get home.

That night, I had plans to meet up with a ton of people and go to the nightclub Fabric again (see an early post) which is right near my apartment. When we finally got to the club, we didn't realize that we needed to reserve tickets to see some famous DJ that was touring. Instead of waiting in the cold, we left and found a bar nearby. After buying myself a drink, this British girl started talking to me at the bar. She asked me where I was from and when I responded with Chicago, she knew that President Obama was from there. Our conversation started nice and friendly until she made the mistake of trying to talk to me about American politics and our foreign affairs. To say the least, she didn't know what she was messing with, and her 'knowledge' of foreign affairs was actually pretty pathetic. She was quick to criticize how we do things across the pond until I had the pleasure of pointing out that she was drinking an America beer, in a bar that listened to America music, and that she worked for an American company! After ripping into her for about an hour, she finally got the sense to leave. No one talks shit on Amuuurrrica, baby!
